Our Algaecide Treatment is a targeted approach to controlling organic growth on exterior surfaces where conventional pressure cleaning may be unnecessary or may risk damaging the surface.
Rather than relying on high pressure to remove growth, we apply a purpose-designed algaecide directly to the affected areas. The treatment destroys the organic growth on the day of application, while natural weathering, including rain and wind, is then allowed to gradually clean the surface over time.
This makes algaecide treatment an excellent long-term strategy for surfaces where aggressive cleaning could cause unnecessary wear, damage or premature deterioration.
A different approach to cleaning
Not every surface needs to be pressure cleaned simply because it has organic growth.
Where appropriate, an algaecide treatment can control the biological growth without the mechanical action of pressure cleaning. Once the growth has been destroyed, the elements can progressively remove the remaining dead material, often providing a much gentler approach to restoring the appearance of the surface.
This is particularly useful for delicate, aged or otherwise vulnerable surfaces where preserving the substrate is more important than achieving an immediate, mechanically cleaned appearance.
Colourbond roofs
Our Algaecide Treatment is not used on Colourbond® roofing.
This is an important part of our surface-specific approach. Colourbond roofing requires different treatment considerations, and our roof cleaning procedures are developed in accordance with BlueScope's published technical and safety information. In particular, the use of algaecides on Colourbond is excluded in accordance with the guidance contained in BlueScope's SDS, Section 10.5.
We don't use a treatment simply because it is available. The surface determines the appropriate chemistry and cleaning method.
